This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

TrainLife has collections of old magazines on-line, including Railmodel Journal and Model Railroading..

www.trainlife.com/magazines

I've tried to do some searches but with little result. Perhaps someone else will have better luck finding RDG material

Brady,
There is a large aricle about RDG "War Emergency" hoppers and a few RDG-inspired layouts. Will try to pass issue numbers along.

Yes, the magazine achieves available at TrainLife are a treasure chest full of great prototype and model detailing information. It is my understanding that the site is owned and operated by ExactRail and that they purchased the copyrights to the magazines.

Regarding where to find articles related to the Reading, here are just a few listings to get things started:

Reading HTe hopper car, Model Railroading, August 1991, pp 54-56.

ACF CF4650 three-bay center flow covered hoppers, Railroad Model Journal, October 94 pp 23-27. (Note: the Reading operated a phase 1 car with side ladders extending to the roof. To my knowledge, no manufacture currently offers a phase 1 car.)

40-ft AAR 50-ton boxcar with 4/4 improved dreadnaught ends. Railroad Model Journal, November 1999, pp 25-31. (Note: Photos of RDG class XMY and XMWA boxcars. Good color photo of RDG 18052 with billboard style scheme. The Reading Modeler offers decals for the XL and XM billboard paint scheme.)

Detail West D&H (ex-Reading) 50-ft boxcar, Railmodel Journal, April 1991, pp 7

Take a look at these articles and post if you find other Reading related topics.

Take a look at www.alphabetroute.com - this site has a listing of Reading-related modeling articles - that can at least get you to the right issue in the TrainLife archive.
