Hello,

I was talking to my neighbor yesterday and he is into the history on the city of Reading, PA.

He said that there was a Gulf oil refinery, 1930's, in the NW part of the city. I looked thru all my books that I have on the Reading RR and the city and I can not find any reference.

Wondering if anyone else know of the information. I contacted my brother that works for the local historical society on the weekends. He is checking into this claim.

Hello,

My brother finally found the information I was looking for about the Gulf Oil refinery in Reading, PA. He volunteers at the Historical Society in Reading.

Cica 1937 there was a Gulf Oil refinery at 330 West Spring Street. Later on in years it became Gosherts that sold coal.

This was located two blocks away from where I grew up in Reading. This was located next to the Dana Corp. that made car and truck frames for Detroit.
