This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

As I have already posted on that other "social media" website thanks much to Barry for herding the hamsters and coming up with a great weekend event. It was my first but will very likely attend again.

Lets get some business out of the way first. I promised Barry to share all of my photos. I am a "carpet bomber" photographer and take photos of everything! I can (and did) take 20+ photos of a draft gear because I am a draft gear freak with a 3D printer! So it should be obvious what projects am researching.

Here are ALL of my photos Bill's photos

There is some very minor editing and dud removal but that is it.

A few words of warning. It is CHUNKY (2.25 GB, yes with a G) You must have a ZIP program. Try to download as many times as you want but if your computer has issues (with the exception of Barry) please don't email me. Even my XP Dell got cranky on me so it is 1 zip of 2 zip files. I will keep the upload for a few weeks at least. I occasionally delete large zips to make room for new uploads.

If you use any photo on any website PLEASE give me photo credit. I did not watermark any of them.

Not meant to be critical in any way here. But here are some quick random thoughts about this meet and possibly next year.

1. Try to have the presentations and model display in a base hotel where most attendees will stay. I get the hotels in close proximity to the museum are few.

2. Secure a model display room to be staffed and locked. If the meet model display is to grow beyond 1 day this is mandatory.

3. If the thought of having the modelers meet and display should be combined with your average weekend train show, I might still attend, but absolutely will not bring any of my models. I just will not risk my models being damaged by an unwatched Yeean yelling Choo Choo.

4. It is OK to "rerun" some events if done previously. Not everyone - including me - was there for every meet so far. Coming up with a completely new agenda is going to be difficult every year anyway.

That's about it for now. There might be more later, but I am going to bed now...

Thanks again Barry. It was all sincerely appreciated.

Bill

I don't know. My IPhone is work supplied and is not 1 of the things I do best. Further, I doubt you want a 3+ GB download to a phone. Try downloading on a computer.

Thanks Bill for the photo links!
I'll comment on some of your ideas in the MEET III item in the timetable section.
Thanks,
Barry

October, 1962
Loss of mail and Railway Express Agency contracts prompts severe cuts in passenger service, including annulment of all service to Shamokin, and the Allentown-Harrisburg trains, and a reduction on remaining routes. RDCs replace most locomotive-hauled trains, freeing former passenger locomotives for freight service.
