What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

does anyone know of any photos of Reading HTj hopper #73560 showing panel sides added to it? the Phila. division of the NMRA (phillynmra.org/Sales.html) did a model of it is a several years ago in HO scale. I questioned if it was prototype, and was told they had a plan of it. all I can find is a diagram on the "alphabet route" website (www.alphabetroute.com/rdg/1956FRTDGMS/72500-74499.pdf)
marked cubical capacity 1940 cu.ft. car #73560 all sides paneled.
I also asked George Losse, all he could find was was a drawing from United Metal Products Company(who manufactured the side panels)with markings from the Reading shops specifing the HTj class, but not listing any specific car numbers. in the rolling stock download section on this sight. it lists #73560 as being retired 8-60. if the car lasted until 1960 there should be a photo out there somewhere.
