What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? HoboPiker OFFLINE Conductor Posts: 227 Thank you received: 53	Over on the Anthracite Railroads site the question of when several Anthracite railroads began painting their caboose handrails and grabs yellow. When did the Reading begin using yellow paint on their hacks??? In 1954 the diesels received safety upgrades of additional grab irons on the F units and yellow paint on locomotive handrails. Were handrails on non-revenue cars painted yellow in 54?

HoboPiker OFFLINE Conductor Posts: 227 Thank you received: 53	Thank you. Will have to dig out John's book as my era of modeling is the transition period up to 1954. With a fair sized caboose fleet, the thought of having to repaint fine details from yellow to black was not relished.
