What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

The last time I was at the museum in Hamburg, I was commenting to one of the guy's in charge of acquiring new pieces for the museum that they should try to get either an exRDG GP39-2 or 40-2 from either NS or CSX soon before they get scrapped or "heavily" rebuilt. The guy said they would be going after some of the existing switchers first; guess they changed their mind. NS dumped a ton o GP38-2s late last year at auction, so it seemed likely these would be next to go. Glad they got one!

Thanks, Mark
