Am looking for a good side view photo(s) of the last roundhouse turntable used at Reading. Can anyone direct me to such a photo? Photo will be used to make a scale drawing to make a model of this table. Also, the manufacturer of this turntable would be helpful. Thank you, Evan Leisey

I remember seeing a photo of the Reading wreck crane lifting one end of the turntable in Reading, so some repairs could be made. it might have been in a "BEE-LINE" issue dealing with wreck trains.

Evan,

American Bridge Co. built the 100-ft turntables for Reading, Rutherford, Erie Avenue, Tulip Street, Saucon Creek, and Darby Creek all in the 1917-1919 time period, if not to identical plans, then very close to identical. Reading enginehouse turntable was rebuilt in the 1940s from a "balanced" turntable to a 2-point suspension table. The rebuilding may have involved swapping for another turntable since that is what happened at Saucon Creek and Erie Avenue.

The RCT&HS archives has voluminous files on turntables if someone has the time to research them.

Regards,
