TOPIC: Reading Company Track Drawings

Reading Company Track Drawings 7 years 5 months ago #5601

I discovered this fine collection of track drawings today. It was gratifying to click on the photo and have it enlarge.

How long have they been on the site?

What era do they represent?

Data on the diagrams indicates some facilities were taken out of service some time in 1959. Is it safe to assume these depict the layout of the track between 1957 and 1960?

George, They've only been on the site for a couple weeks, though I've had them in my possession for a couple years. I finally got around to scanning and posting them. Ultimately, they're from some time in the 1960s, as some of the modifications are dated if you scrutinize all the drawings. In particular, the Alburtis drawing notes that the interlocking is now controlled from Oley Tower, and that happened around 1964, so I think the original drawings were made in the early 1960s, and likely annotated at times after that.

Glad you like them!
