Last night at our Div 6 meeting, someone brought in some old MR issues to give out for free. One of them just happened to be the July 97 issue with the Alco article that was mentioned on page 3 of this post.

I have scanned the article and here it is....

I wonder if you could save some work by replacing the walkway/pilot portion with that from a C420. It would reduce the number of holes that need to be drilled and already be made for the pilots.

I haven't actually looked at diagrams to see how do-able it is, I just recall from doing the reverse - many years ago when I wanted a decent quality C420, I took the old Lima shell, cut the decks off it, and mounted it to an Atlas C424 walkway and frame/running gear. It worked, it fit although the deck had some bare spots with no tread.

In any case, now I see what all is wrong with my stock C424, so I can make some changes to it.
