Last night I was placing decals on an RDG F3 using Microscale 87-125 RDG Cab Diesels (1945+). The info sheet with that set states that the FP7 A-units and all B-units had 5" road numbers and smaller sized road class designations on the rear. Assuming Microscale did the research it would appear that F3 and F7 A-units did not have any numbering to the right of the rear door.--Dave

PS to my post of an hour ago--Just finished decaling that F3. To do those small 3" road numbers and road class designations on the rear sides of the engine I needed my reading glasses and magnifying loops. It was quite a strain on these 63 year old eyes...especially when you realize all that effort to be prototypically correct will be covered by weathering!!!--Dave

Dave and others,
I have the Microscale sheet and have noticed the small letters they included, but with my eyes which are 18 years older than yours, this will be a real challenge. But if we are to be true to the prototype, it has to be done... LOL.

I was able to get Vol 1&2 of the "Reading Railroad Action" and there is a lot of useful info in them.

Thanks for all the replies and the information contained in them.

Bill, The F-units are looking really nice, especially with that lighting. Would you post some more pics and maybe a track plan of your layout? That hand laid track and scenery is pretty impresssive.
