Operations on the Reading at Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, August 13, 1955

The traffic on Bill Bruber's HO scale layout flows in a pattern and style matched to the prototype Reading Railroad and its operations near Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Is this layout still in existance? I'd be curious to see more of the layout.

I think Bill passed away a couple years ago, but not 100%. Model Railroader had 2-articles about his layout August 1994 and October 1996. His excellent article on kitbashing RDG boxcars was in RMC NOvember, 1992.

Yes, unfortunately Bill Gruber did pass away a few years ago, and his layout has been dismantled and his collection sold.

He had written numerous articles on Reading subjects, including an article on kitbashing 3 types of Reading flatcars, one on kitbashing an SW1001 and an MP15, and some others as well.

And an all-around great guy! When train shows were just starting in the early 80's to be a non-novelty, he was the only custom painter that would give you tips to do your own work-he was a Rdg color match guru- it was he and Bobb (and George) Losse that really advanced the "cause" of Rdg modelers 30 years ago...
