The February 2014 new releases notice from Accurail include a Reading Boxcar.

The car appears to be a model of the XLj boxcars, part of the third group that were built in November 1972.

Here is what the car looks like in the catalog

they look good hopefully they will be good. Accurail seems to do a decent job with their kits. I have a car like this that was a special release about 20 yrs ago, put out by Robin's Rails.

This car was listed on the accurail web site as a future release for over two years...glad to see it finally being produced.
I was hoping that it would be offered in the banner scheme, but I think this model represents the third group of XLj's purchased.I believe they were all in the simplified RDG scheme and some had the smaller savings bond logo applied.

Chris: You're correct that this car only matches the third group. Compare the 2-cars side by side The side sills are very different.

Rob - I don't have all of the info in front of me, but for being a dumbass, I think the roof and ends are indeed different. Check the Bossler book, you know he spells it all out.
