Check these out in Reading yard. Think Rdg 90610 & 90611. American 50 Ton Diesel. My info source says there is a RCT&HS photo of the 90611 in yellow.

Rob,
The middle picture there. Is that the original scheme showing through? Were the cranes painted RDG green with the yellow diamond?

I wish I could honestly say yes, however this was taken the first time I saw the equipment and I do not truly know it's history. As I recall there was no number or reporting marks visible, just that tell tale yellow diamond.

I can advise that on 5 Oct 1959 the very new 90611 appears yellow on a dark (black?)chassis (B&W photo) however in the RCT&HS' Company photo, the diamond appears to be a "hollow" diamond painted on, not an attached "plate."

According to notes I have from John Hall. (This info may also be in the MOW equipment roster on this website

1. 90610 50 ton diesel Blt. 9-1954 Leased from American Hoist, assigned to Philly, Pier 6 50 ft boom, became CR# 94100
2. 90611 50 ton diesel Blt. 7-14-1959 American 840 DE, assigned to St. Clair Car Shop became CR#94101

(however it looks like other CR cranes were in the 50000# series)
Another American Hoist crane is listed by John Hall, however it is a 40 ton unit #90609 diesel American Hoist assigned to Pt. Richmond, 50 foot boom, became CR# 94102
