I recently purchased the Funaro & Camerlengo kits for the Reading Automobile boxcars. What freight trucks did they ride on?

The trucks on which the automobile boxcars rode upon depends on what years you are modeling. I posted some builders photos of the XARa and XAd you will notice that indeed they are Andrews trucks, but as time went on this style of truck was phased out of railroading. In the picture of car 18804, this was the 1950's and underneath were Bettendorf trucks. You will note on car 18804, a shop date of 2-48, probably this was when the trucks were changed, also keep in mind these cars were built from the XMs class of USRA single sheath box cars of the late teens. With that said, in 1948 those Andrews trucks had 30 years of service in already. I posted the parts legend of an XAd from the Reading shops noting cast steel side frames, and a photo of my XAd for the 1950's.

Note the first 2 photo's (car # 18800, 18700) show Andrews trucks. The third photo (18804) looks to be Taylor trucks under that car.

I am on the fence as to whether they are Taylor trucks. With that said I posted a picture of an XMu on Taylor trucks and the size of the casting around the springs is quite pronounced. I am also inclined to say the trucks are Barber Lateral Motion as the pic comes from Tahoe Model Works resembling closely those under the XAd. The third photo is a rebuild from the leasing company that appeared in Reading color guide.
