This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

TOPIC: P&R 507

Recently at an auction I bought several box lots of locomotives and cars. When I got home I sorted through them and found this gem hidden towards the bottom.
Apparently it's a Aristocraft from 1957, missing the bell and tender drawbar. The tender appears to be original although unpainted and looks as if it never was. I took it apart, cleaned and lubed it, then tested it. It ran fine with the performance expected of a 1957 open frame motor.
The prototype was ordered by the P&R, however they were unable pay for it so it was sold to a company in England. However it was lettered for the P&R, so briefly it was one of theirs.
The photos are of the prototype, another fully lettered model, and the one I bought (red tender).
Not really sure what I'm going to do with it. It is a neat locomotive though.
