This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

My modus operendi is to go at any project for about 3 months tops then if not completed back in the box for possibly YEARS until I pick it up again.

I just rediscovered 2 in progress Reading cars. I have this combine #428 that is reasonably far along and a baggage that needs more work.

At some point in my previous Reading binge I was sent a bunch of drawings (from RMC I think) that mentioned there was non-air conditioned cars that had no roof vents at all. Just confirming this. If yes this roof gets painted and installed tomorrow.

If there are any FORD fans here I chose 428 for obvious reasons. I was at the Shelby convention yesterday surrounded by them. Just awesome...

Bill; just a reminder any questions you have on passenger equipment, can probably be answered by looking it up on the rolling stock reference file on this website.(The Reading Modeler) just looking up CVl combines, #365-374, 399-428, 595-599(45 cars total) 1946-1947 26 cars sold to the Boston & Maine,
1952,5 cars to M of W service, and 1953 10 cars converted to BAa baggage cars including #428 to BAa #1759. is there a specific time period or era that you model? after WWII up into the late 1950's there was a lot of changes and sales to the Reading passenger roster.Butch Curll

428 got some roof vents. I think this roof is going on a coach when I get it done. At some point, I am going to round up all the cars I have been working on lately and put some form of glass in them. I mostly use real glass but this is a LOT OF WINDOWS!
