Doe anyone know where I can find blueprints of a wooten firebox? I'm trying to build a camelback and wanted to see about building the whole thing from scratch.

The only diagrams I am aware of were in the book " Steam locomotives of the reading & P&R Railroads" By Edward H. Wiswesser, P.E.. They were a separate Packet of individual blueprints. The packet included camelbacks,A5-a,B5-b,B7-a,D5-f,D-10,D-36,E4-a,P-1,P2-a,P5-se,I4-d,I8-sb,L3-sa,L7sb,and all the newer rear cab engines. They have rear & side views of each engine. A few Dimensions but appear to be at a 40 Scale on an engineers rule. so the other dimensions can be scaled. I remember a previous post on the old forum. Some one said he still had some and would sell copies of individual blueprints on request. They gave a contact. I don't have it. Possibly someone could post it.

Enough information is on the new, revived Reading Modeler.

See the topic thread:

www.readingmodeler.com/index.php/forum/t...nd-car-dwgs-the-list

this is under "Taking a Ride on the Real Reading" part of the forum.

As a recent purchaser of the book, I can attest to the quality of the drawings. The book has diagrams of other steam locomotives as well - all the way back to 1838!

I didn't look under that catagory much yet! Glad to see it was re-posted. I did mention, it had all the rear cab engines. That's where I got the original specs to build my bashed Bachman K-1. Thanks for the Quick response.

Go to Google Books and search for Locomotive Cyclopedia. Then search the Cyclopedia for "Wooten". They have plans for some Wooten fireboxes.

Also search Google Books for "Wooten". There may be other books that have diagrams for Wooten fireboxes.

I find a lot of information In " free google E-books ". I have seen drawings for many Wootten fireboxes and other modified wide boxes. Even some with belpaire tops to them.
Here are 2 I found both 4-4-2 type CRRofNJ locomotives. Very odd that they are the same class. one is #590 the other 597.

* CRR of NJ 4-4-2, #597 R&LE V15, 1902, P-529. A, P, D, Specks

for this loco, their is a separate drawing of just a side view on page 531. Then on 532 a segmented view of the backhead.

* CRR of NJ 4-4-2 #590 RMM 1902 V26 P39 to 42 A,P,D,specks.
