This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

I know this is a long shot, but asking about it is free. I have a S Scale brass PRR K4 that has had a very tough life. I think it was owned by Godzilla once. Both of my other K4 are modernized. I don't think I have the life left in me to drag this K4 back from the dead.

If anyone here has ever dreamed of getting medieval on a brass K4 this could be for you. I would much rather the K4 be bashed into a G3 # 217 or 218 as it was just before retirement. How much of the K4 that is to be used remains to be seen. They both had 80" drivers so that is about all I need to get started!

I am not looking for sheer perfection here. Just getting the thumbs away look is by far good enough. I am also not looking for a completed model to be dropped on my hands. If you followed my G-1sb project www.lanestrains.com/S_Scale_Reading_G-1sb_204.htm that is about what I want again + -. The tender would have to be made and be rather complete though.

The more it is made from brass the happier I would be, but I mostly expect it to be mixed materials. I have no time line in mind. I expect it to take a year or so. I could help with some things doing 3D design and printing. I have made contact with someone the is doing S steam components on Shapeways. That might happen at some point. But I am throwing a broad net here.

As a mostly armchair modeler, I Hope that you are able to get a collaboration going. I know there are a few very capable steam builders here. I have an old Bowser HO K4, that I wouldn't mind seeing turned into a G as well. Best of luck.
