This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

My Reading SW-1 #20 is running. As usual it was more involved than I expected. Since I used real glass for windows in the Train Master, which is my normal practice, I wanted to try the SW-1 too. This meant cutting a curved shape for the front windshield. Most of the time I call my cutting glass uncontrolled breaking. It is at least 3 pieces cut to every 1 I use. The windshield was about 20 pieces cut. It had to be a very exact size. I used a Scotch tape dispenser for the cutting template as it was the perfect radius!

I forgot to put the interior in before the cab was installed. Too much work done with installing the rear LED to go back. There was 2 hours of “I thought I fixed it” with a bracket I made to find I had clearance problems when I put the shell on. Grinding the frame of a finished painted model is not much fun. So for now there is no interior and crew.

I was hitting my wall of patience too, so it is best that I put it down for a while. I will get back to it after the Reading Modelers meeting.
