I made this diorama of Rutherford Yards east end hump for displaying. The hump office was scratch built using only pictures that I could find. The signal was almost a match for the one used at the hump and is lite up using a hidden battery connection under the display. My goal was to capture the Look of the hump as much as possible. There is a nice picture taken from the bridge in the book Reading Company in color among other photos taken that can be seen on the web. I displayed this at the Modelers meet.

Thanks Tom and Chris,

The diorama is 1 ft x 2 ft long. The base is cut foam insulation and doubled up. Then I had to cut away the drop off down the hump and add height and angle to run around track.

Did You Know?

October, 1962
Loss of mail and Railway Express Agency contracts prompts severe cuts in passenger service, including annulment of all service to Shamokin, and the Allentown-Harrisburg trains, and a reduction on remaining routes. RDCs replace most locomotive-hauled trains, freeing former passenger locomotives for freight service.
