This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

I can't recall what those doors on the GP35s were for, but they were unique to the RDG batch. (Note they're shaped so as not to interfere with the diamond.)

Could it be access to marker lights? Theres little bolted on circles below them too for no obvious reason, on both pictures.

The doors under the number boards are for sand fillers.

Interesting, I ruled that out in my mind because of the one on top, but no reason it can't have both.

If I recall correctly, they are in fact for the sanding system, but it is for access to some sort of a system to keep the sand froom clogging, perhaps a sand dryer or something... It was explained by Steve Schwartz in a Bee Line aricle many years ago, I believe it was called something like "The GP-35's, Reading's Cadillacs"
