Another locomotive the RDG considered was the SD40. In 1966 the WM placed an order for five Sd40's 7470/74 on my Reading two units were piggybacked to the WM order and were delivered in the g/y scheme and numbered 7475/76.With the arrival of the GP40-2's my 7476 was sent to the shop for repainting and emerged in the new scheme. Unit started as an undecorated Kato painted with SCII southern green and rdg yellow, details and grime added along with WOW sound and TDS mini

Completed another WM GP35 I wanted to add a black schemed unit to go with my two circus schemed painted units. The unit itself is a Kato that I originally painted in the RDG 3631 I decided to strip it since it was the wrong phase for that RDG number. The unit was re-motored and given new trucks. Painted with SCII black, trucks and fuel tank tarnished black, MS decals, weathered, TCS wow added along with detail parts.

Did You Know?

October, 1962
Loss of mail and Railway Express Agency contracts prompts severe cuts in passenger service, including annulment of all service to Shamokin, and the Allentown-Harrisburg trains, and a reduction on remaining routes. RDCs replace most locomotive-hauled trains, freeing former passenger locomotives for freight service.
