What is/are the correct phase for the GP35? Is there much difference between them? Thank you!

Hello,

To answer your question, The Reading had 3 different phases of GP35's.

Phase 1a1 - 3620-3625
Phase 1b1 - 3626-3655
Phase 1c2 - 3656

Great! Thank you!
So main difference between 1a and 1b is the grills in the back correct?

Very nice clinic on the 6302 you did at Valley Forge. I really enjoyed it!

This is all off the top of head... spotting differences
RDG 1a's 3620/25
7 upper hood latches on the tall doors of the long hood
battery boxes...engineer's side 3 columns with three louvres
conductor's side 2 columns with three louvres
Thick frame hence the fish belly effect at the fuel fill
Flat inertial filter hatch on the roof behind the cab

The current Kato offering covers the RDG 1a's to a degree.

RDG 1b's 3626/55 Note;3645/55 had snow plows applied to both pilots
3 upper hood latches on the tall doors of the long hood
Every item mentioned for the 1a is also the same for the 1b RDG units
As far as I can tell the radiator grill work was the same with these two phases

RDG 1c 3656
7 upper hood latches as 1a's
battery boxes...engineer's side 3 columns each with a single louvre
conductor's side 2 columns with single louvre
Taller inertial filter hatch as found on the 39/40-2's
3656 36" radiator fan was also different...sat lower to the roof line similar to the fans on the gp7"s and the radiator grill work was much finer compared to the 1a/b"s

The radiator grille on 3656 is a close match the grilles used on a GP38/40. The GP35 production was basically complete when the Reading placed the order for the single 35. EMD was finishing out orders and I believe 3656 was from a cancelled order. EMD was moving into the GP38 production at that time.
