I started out wanting to be more prototypical with my Reading cabooses, but got buried in the various types of caboose trucks.

Please feel free to clarify or correct or add information.

So 1-caboose trucks have elliptical springs instead of coil springs for a better ride. But my research has revealed that 2-for classes NMd- NMp, - Taylor, Andrews and Birdsboro were used.
3-I'm confused about the "Birdsboro" type - is that the correct name OR where they Bettendorf but manufactured at Birdsboro Iron Foundry, and hence the name?

As for modelling were Taylor ever made in HO? What would be a good stand-in?
How about for Birdsboro?

In several articles on trucks such as in MR, no mention is given. One image on the RCT&HS web site indicates Taylor trucks on a class NMp. www.readingrailroadmuseum.org/roster/roster_cabooses_ne.shtml

Credit for some of the abobe information I found should be given to the site keeper at www.shamokindivision.com/2011/09/26/read...l-had-taylor-trucks/

Any thoughts appreciated, thanks in advance!

Eastern Car Works made a plastic freight car trucks, which is long out of productions and rarely found for sale. Bethlehem Car Works offers cast metal Taylor freight trucks (1217) and caboose trucks (1218). Other than that, Custom Brass had brass Taylor trucks in the longer passenger wheel base on some of their electric MU commuter cars, that were sold in three car sets.

Thanks, I had heard of them but never checked their offerings in detail. I see # 1218 has the leaf springs. Nothing indicated as Birdsboro though.
