What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Does anyone have any pictures? This is the Tamaqua wreck train crane of the 1950s, and one of 2 that i do NOT have pictures of...Going through my pictures, I saw that 90641 is the 2nd 120Ton crane, so I have been preparing my crane model after that, assuming they were fairly identical. Before I continue this project, I'd hope to find a reference that would show me how close the two are together. Thanks!

John, once again you pull a rabbit out of your hat. This is perfect. I don't need a HD picture, and this is actually the side that I needed! To confirm, both 90638 and 90641 are identical, as far as I can see. Of course there are most likely small differences, but the whole body and turret are identical. Which means I can use my better picture of 90641 to more detail work. Thanks so much John!

I have attached 90641 for others to view as well. Kudos!

Upon further inspection I realized that 90641 appears to have a sheath over the gears inside, so since I am modeling 90638, I am able to leave it as is, since the Tichy kit is representative of the inside detail. I love when something actually manages to go my way!!!

One of the fellows on the Frisco group has posted a "Follow the Build Style" thread on www.frisco.org about building the Tichy crane. He does good work, so it might be worth a look. I was able to access much of the material as a guest, so you should be able as well.

The thread topic is "S.A.&A.P. Wrecking Crane X2..., The Big Hook" under Modeling the Frisco > HO > Maintenance of Way.
