What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Reading also ran a freight train Allentown to Darby Creek which used the Perkiomen Branch to bypass Reading. I think this was the only train to use the branch before the Reading pulled the rails up on the branch around 1971.

OK Guys, thanks for your info. I downloaded all of the Penn Pilot Aerial photos from 1971 last weekend. Mitch, thanks much for the partial of the enginehouse. It confirms my thought that the plan would be similar to Shamokin and Gordon. Bob Losse's website has some good shots of the Shamokin Enginehouse if anyone needs more info.

As far as the Chester Branch symbol freight, in 1967 AD-10 covered the Perk and the Chester Branch, by way of Belmont. Based on Destination Reports I have (Form 336) AD-10 was a road local like RP-16/PR-14. It also skipped the perk on some occasions and wnet via Reading.

Another friend sent me some additional information on Darby Creek. The engine house was replaced in 1973. Anyone have any photos from 1974-Conrail?
