What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Here is a shot of a RDG Co tractor. It is just a typical RDG Mack truck but notice the decal on the door. Not your typical "Fast Friendly Service" decal that was applied to most RDG CO trucks. This decal says "RTCO". Photo is not mine but from my collection.

I don't have any facts, but I suppose they were considering trying to modernize their image.

Reading Transportation Company was originated to provide service off line and also in place of service on branch lines the company wanted to abandon, it included the bus operations. For a brief period in the mid or late 1960s, it went by RETCO. and some equipment received that identifier. If memory serves, the trucking portion eventually became independent of the Reading Co.

Yes, this is the yellow RTCo I recall. I remember it on the newer road tractors. Never did take a liking to the Reading diamond disappearing.
