A friend of mine has this lantern and I am not really sure what to make of it... Not for sale, just peaked my curiosity.
It is a Dietz and on the top of the base portion it says "No 2 Wizard." Dave S have at it.

Definitely not a railroad lamp. Beyond that I can't tell you specifically what it's used for. If I had to made a guess I'd say some sort of traffic lamp. The bracket for hanging has me intriqued. If you want I can ask around. But what about the lantern in the background of picture 1?? That one IS a RR lantern. B)

After examining the pictures more and searching the internet for a bit, The lantern you have here is a Dietz #2 Wizard Wagon Lamp, which is how it's marked on the back. According to the R.E. Dietz Compendium online, the use of "Lamp" puts production between 1913 and 1916. In 1916 "Lamp" was replaced by "Lantern". The Compendium lists this model as "very rare". Hope that helps Rob

Thanks Dave, I will pass that on to the owner..... yeah the one in the background is a RR lamp but nothing about that puzzled me. Next time I am in the neighborhood I will get the details to see if it fills any of your gaps on your web site ... None of them are for sale.
