TOPIC: BM&R planning work on Temple-Hamburg line

BM&R planning work on Temple-Hamburg line 9 years 1 day ago #4413

Large numbers of two-bay covered hoppers go east and west on the BNSF Cuba Sub in Missouri. I have been told many are frac sand loads. There is a sand operation in Pacific, MO. It is interesting to speculate whether the once-stored covered hoppers Mark mentioned are among those now in use on the BNSF. There certainly is use for them in PA for the same purpose.

The Reading Eagle just ran an article on the cars stored on this line.

Railroad cars that once hauled crude now parked in norther Berks, 10-13-15

Looks like the track work I mentioned earlier was just to increase storage capacity. It’s a smart move for the R&N, but also sad to know that this line won’t see any other activity for the foreseeable future.

Of course, I’m not complaining about cheap gas prices! ;)
Thanks, Mark

I seem to recall a crossover at the south end of the Shoey passing siding with a stub aiming south. I'm guessing that maybe that siding was cut back years ago and perhaps that's where they might lay more double track, Since the grading is somewhat pre-established. Kinda cool whenever there's new track going down locally.
