According to photos I have access to, and the Jan 1983 RMC article on the 20000 series cars with drawings. The Robin's Rails car is dead on.
Roof, ends, sides..... etc. The only thing I cannot attest to is where my doors came from. I think they were in the Robin's Rail kit as one choice of two or three different doors.

The Robins Rails car has the correct roof as it is a model of a PS-1 which is what the RDG 20000 series XLj cars are.

(It is only correct for RDG's third series XLj 20000-20199 and also for the RDG's XLd 19530-19391)

Bossler talks about the diagonal and X section roofs for the 1st and 2nd groups, but I can't tell from any of the photos exactly what roof was on the 3rd. From all the info presented here, the accurail car is very close for a 1st group car (if the bottom sill is made flush at the ends) .
And the Robins Rail PS1 is a very good model of a XLj(3rd), but is the roof correct on it?

Doors are also available from Details West for the RDG's 20000 series XLj.

They are psrt number 253-168.

I had to substitute doors on my Robbins Rails car as the early run undecorated kit didn't supply me with the correct doors. So bad news is check the kit before you buy it as it may or may not have the correct doors.
