What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

Tom or Will might be able to measure these doors and submit plans. They are a lot closer than I am. I am limited in my ability to travel.

More information on boxcar in Montgomery, Pa. from Rick Bates of the RCT&HS. RDG 19447 (XAf) built Sept. 18, 1939. Changed to XAPa in 1949 due to interior modifications.

I'm planning on getting more detailed sketches and photos of the car either today or tomorrow, been off sick the last couple of days. It looks like we have the same car as Francis posted, it's hard to tell on my phone. Ours is an ex automobile car with the multitude of rivets on the sides. There are two photos of them in the color guide, one in brown the other in banner.
I have sketches of the doors, I just have to put them in coherent form. I also have made HO masters for resin castings. I'll post photos later.

There are a pair of prototype Creco doors on an X-Reading boxcar (I want to say it's an XAd) - 40' double door car off it's trucks, behind Kuzan's Hardware in Shoemakersville. Drove by yesterday and remarked to myself that I should measure them one of these days...

Tom

Does anyone happen to know what the car number is for this particular boxcar? I poked around that car years ago and never could find a number on it.
Thanks,
