Nice, thanks for posting! It makes you wonder if this paint scheme would have been applied to all the Reading's second generation geeps had the company lasted beyond 1976.

Interesting that the cab door isn’t one typically found on a GP30, but rather looks like one from a GP35 or other unit with a Spartan cab. I would be willing to bet that the Sante Fe did this “refit” intentionally as a cost savings measure. Probably much easier to service and source replacement parts for a door that was applied to numerous locomotive as opposed to one from a one-model-only, 50 plus year old, design. ;)

Are these units stored at Port Clinton? I’ll be riding one of the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway excursions in October and wouldn’t mind getting a couple photos of these units.

Thanks, Mark

How many of these GP30M locos has the R&N acquired? While the RDG GP30 units came out in a splashy, for the Reading, yellow with green paint scheme, this mostly green scheme is immediately appealing.

Four units total. For the Modelers, 2530 was given marker lights, but then word came down from the brass to spare the expense on the other 3.
