Well Bachmann did it again. They have painted it painted for the RDG but it is not prototypical for the RDG. (what's new for them)

It is painted as a GHp class gon. The RDG's GHp should have 14 side panels and Bachmanns has 13 panels. The RDG's Ghp should be a welded body and the Bachmanns is rivetted. So their rendition isn't even close.

Plus they want $39.99 for it. It has molded on body detail and grab irons. Come on for $39.99 I expect better than that! For around $32.00 I can get a Tangent RDG gon that is prototypical and has separately applied details and grab irons.

This is a toy rendition at best. If we don't buy it. They will get the message that we want better than that. If we do buy it then they will continue as usual selling us anything they slap a RDG emblem on!

Wow, is that really a rehash of the old Con Cor 52 foot Gon, which I think may have been a rehash of the old Revell 52 footer? They were useful for a class of Reading, I am thinking maybe GHm, but I do not recall the drop end for sure... That was an RCTHS project car back in the day.

And GHp, I remember old AHM hoppers and maybe 40 foot gons lettered in GHp, They used the same screen for both cars.....

Rob, you're correct - it was a GHm - I used Con-Cor gon's for the two plate steel gons that I've built - not perfect, but easier than putting together a Sunshine resin kit, and cheaper than a Tangent model...

Yes Rob the Concor gon is a good representation of the GHm class. It also has the correct number of 14 side panels.

Although the Bachmann model does look similar to the Concor model. It doesn't have the correct number of side panels. It only has 13.

Hence why I custom paint and decal every piece of RDG equipment on my roster...I don't think there is anything good enough R-T-R that they offer in N Scale...
