This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

Well... after getting the
garage cleaned out and the "kids" awake for the summer....

I went down stairs and DID it... cut the P2K headlight pieces to eliminate the headlights and cut a groove for the wires for the bulbs; had to remove a front (short hood) weight; made the coupler pads out of styrene and found a pair of off-set Kadee for couplers; remounted the horns (have to fill that hole in front - antenna?) and reset the decoder (like Chris did) so that it naturally runs long hood forward. I LIKE IT!!
Also - after spending the money (well low cost money - it was on sale for $155!) I am highly disappointed with the Athearn handrails!! Way too flexible, which makes them not sit well on the model.

I think I've also decided to hang on to the P2K chassis and Athearn shell (unless someone wants to make me an offer?) This way if Athearn decides to make this same model IN the original paint scheme, I could pick one up that is DC only and reswap shells.
Thanks,
Barry

Is there a blower or something fancy like that in your green coupe Barry?

nothing that fancy MrBill... just a low-rise dual quad set-up with lots of chrome.
I am most proud that I am the original owner! It's a 1976 Type LT and all but the hood and doors are original paint.
Thanks,
Barry

I wasn't planning on getting a third unit,but when MB Klein had a sale of $89.00 I couldn't pass it up.My completed 623.

Hopefully in future Athearn will offer some in the original paint scheme.Better yet...undecorated.
