John Greene, Bethlehem Car Works, had a cast metal Taylor passenger truck prototype on display at last years Reading Modelers Meet. I don't know if he went any farther with the project.

Thanks, I've emailed him about them. I'll let everyone know what he says.

I have a finished set of RDG MU cars from Imperial. The roofs were both silver although I can't tell you which silver exactly. I've painted my Bethlehem Car Works cars Scalecoat 2, #2017 Pullman Green as recommended by a fellow hobbyist. They came out great, no primer needed with Scalecoat 2. Just be sure your model is clean. If you're not sure you can use a mild mix of dish detergent and water and dry with a soft cloth. After painting and decalling, apply a Dullcote finish and they should look perfect. I haven't drilled out for the headlights or markers yet or applied the Kadee #5 couplers but when I'm done I'll attach a picture for you.

RDG's cars were a lighter and warmer shade of green than Pullman's. Pullman based their green on studies of the dirt of the arid western states and the humid eastern state developing a dark green with a brownish hue that tends to hide the road grim. Towards the end of the RDG's green car era, photos of MU trains show noticeably different degrees of fading between cars. eBay is a good place to search for color photos of the Readings first generation MU cars. BTW, Custom Brass offered these cars in HO scale as a three car set.

I forgot about the Custom Brass ones, if my memory is correct they released both the green, and Blueliner sets. both 3 car sets.

Guys, the discussion about paint colors always amuses me. Even if you shot them straight from the manufacturer, two different cameras, two different types of film or at 10-15-minutes, apart, the colors will vary. Of you look at a model under fluorescent lights and then in bright sunshine, again the colors are different. If you like Scalecoat Pullman Green, use it. You can always tint an olive green to match your preference. Don't kill yourself trying to match specific photos for paint color, age, lighting, film type and dirt will result in never ending color variations.

Oh so true Bill, very well said! I read the text and thought to myself oh no its a PRR or a CN No.11 red argument! It is quite interesting the variations of shading that occurred on the Reading especially when it came to the passenger and boxcars. I have mixed and used straight from the bottle to create a varied array of shades for my boxcars and am quite pleased, I will keep this in mind when I finally complete my BCW coaches.
