This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

Okay, this is partly guess work. But, as the GP-39's were lower horsepower than the 35's, A lower number series was justified based on the plan laid out in Dale Woodland's second Reading book.

Maybe 7500's, 7400's would have conflicted with Western Maryland. Hmm, a Reading SD-40-2? Oh well, I have enough projects already.

The GP-39-2 was an upgraded version of the GP38-2 and had the 2300hp. as the 38-2.Also was more fuel efficent and had upgraded electrical system. The GP-35 was 2500hp.with a 567 two cycle primemover. Todd Shoffler
