This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

I think most of the detail on the engineer's side is done. Now just some work on the pilot and rear beam remain. Then hopefully we'll have a warm day so I can at least get her in primer.

They do look great. I have had a try at a K-1 out of two I-10s. that was before the round house fire. I scratch built the cab from white plastic. looks like what you used. then added longer brass cal scale steps and other details. Bashing the 5th driver was a challenge. and did bind at times. If I redo it I will use someones 2-10-2 under frame. Instead of the two bachmans. It did look good in engine terminal. I also am in the middle of a I-8 out of a mantua camelback. Keep up the great work!!! Dan.

I've got a K-1 in the back of my head, but there's no such thing as an inexpensive X-10-X in O-scale to use as a donor.

Here's a kitbashed VO 1000-started with Stewart VO 1000, hood from P2K SW1200, built up to height w/styrene strip. Still to go: MU platforms, dropsteps, horn, antenna, cab drip strip, handrails, and decals. You have to watch which one you model as the roof of the older VO's doesn't match that of the later production that Stewart models! Also-the front cab windows (overlooking the hood) are totally blanked out on some, others seem to be patched to the same size as the windows or just painted over (my option!)Need a little more Squadron where the two hoods join at the roof. Shrinkage !

Wowak, Casey, how fragile are those units with all the exposed styrene pieces? Amazing work! Wish my skills in N were a fraction of yours!

Mitch, nice work on your loco. I'd love to do that in N, but its a bit past my time frame and era. maybe some day i'll dive in and extend my era by 10 years so I can incorporate some 2nd gen diesel power.
