cool yea we can definitely compare notes if you find them, how do you feel about the T1 mech we have a few to choose from :)

i was thinking the kato gs4 because the valvegear is correct but the drivers are 80". Been looking for a reliable number on the actual driver diameter on the model but haven't seen anything I trust.

Theres the concor s-2 also which is based on the s-2 which is closer to the T-1 in driver and engine wheelbase and the drivers are apparently 76" scale inches instead of 80" but the valve gear is wrong.

Then there is the bachmann B) 4-8-4 which has boxpok driver inserts that can be popped out and inserted into the spectrum 4-8-2 69" driver centers for closer driver diameter but the valve gear is completely wrong and you have to add a 4 wheel trailing truck. So far I'm liking this option because of the economics of a $50 mechanism.

jury is still out on this one

If there is anything that i choose more than anything, it's reliability and quality of running. The Con-cor S2 was nice, and i bought two of them just for T1 conversions, but the Kato is hands down the winner. Plus, although the drivers are slightly off, they have very similar driver styles, and you can get them in white rims. Knock a few birds out with one stone if you ask me. The Bachmann is a joke. Although they can be had for very cheap nowadays. Don't know if the CC or Kato shell would fit over it, but at that cost, the Kato is the go-to anyway.

since you have the concor model, how long is the tender you have in length of the carbody without the shell. The tender trucks would definitely be wrong though.

Don't have them anymore, they came with Vandy tenders so i sold them. I'd probably just do the T-1 tenders from scratch. Could try with the Kato GS-4 as a base and build up the sides with really thick styrene that you can sand the big curves into. But I don't know what lengths the tenders are.

Chris, do me a favor and if you have a scale ruler, measure the Con-Cor model from the front of the cowpusher to the back of the cab (not the roof, but the flat end of the cab itself). Let me know the measurements. I have an engineer's drawing that says the K1sd should be 56'1 1/4" length. Drivers should be 61 1/2" diameter. I don't know if the K1sa would be different, but If so, I'd still like to get an idea of how close the Con-Cor is vs. the Bachmann. Planning on digging into the K1sd myself as soon as my tour is over.
