Were the Readings T1 and K1 tenders the same? All the photos I have seen seem to indicated that they are but does anyone know if they are by dimension the same?

I am doing both in n-scale starting with a kato gs-4 and concor usra heavy 2-10-2 respectively, and I was planing on scratch building the tenders from polystyrene.

Does anyone know where I can get mechanical drawings of the T1 and the tenders? I am a member of RCTHS.

The capacities are the same, the measurements seem to differ by a few inches in places, but in N scale they would be nearly indistinguishable. Perhaps some details like the placement of the hatch, rear light, or such may differ, but the overall structure is very similar.

Wiswesser still has his drawings for sale. Here's a list:

With anything you order, you should confirm by letter after calling. He can be forgetful.

Just checked his book. (Not to steal Mr. Bill's thunder.) The dimensions are all pretty close.

the T-1 coal bunker area is more curved, where the K-1 coal bunker area is mostly straight up and down.coal and water capacities are the same for both locomotives.

Every lump of coal counts. In a rounded area you lose a little space and the ton rating isn't the absolute weight cap. In a square box you can over fill it better then something more rounded with less of an opening on top. Its like vanderbilt tenders, the cylindrical water area would allow water to nicely flow on the slope going down the tracks creating less wear, if you look at a square tender in motion closely you will see the side panels being pounded out by water on every bump in the track, but vanderbilt tenders capacity was lower unless it was really long like the ones used on the B&O. They even had these goofy looking tenders with 3 trucks.
