Well, let's venture off the rails just a bit... picked up a Walthers tug boat at the local train show yesterday (only $40 and unbuilt) and I have not started my research into how to "Reading-ize" this model. I certainly don't need a super copy of a Reading tug, but if there are signature features, that is what I would like to duplicate. So let's please hear from you... what sources have the most info and pictures? I have many of the more popular Reading books... please let me know!
Thanks,
Barry

Barry, the book "The Reading, Building a Modern Railroad" has a front view shot of the last Diesel Tugs purchased. Also "Reading in color, volume 1 has a nice shot of the tug, Brandywine. It was based at Wilmington and was the last tug operating.

Barry, that would be a cool build. Been thinking about building one for about a year now. Would like to see your tug when it's done. If I'm not mistaking, there was an article published by Bernhart in his Reading Railroad Magazine. I think there were builders plans also. I'll have to look, I have that copy somewhere.

Thanks JonnaBIll... yes, did find two photos in that book, plus a couple black-white photos in the History of the Reading vol2 by Holton. I'm attaching the pictures I have (hope this works) to show for reference.

rdg5310 - thinking of adding to the "watch the build" section of the forum!
Thanks,
Barry

Here's a shot of the Shamokin. It is really not close to the Walthers tug which is similar to tugs built for the NH and Erie.
