This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

That's excellent advice regarding lighting, but I don't have a layout, I'm currently renting, so I'm feeding my modeling urges by amassing and modifying equipment for my theoretical eventual Shamokin Division layout. At some point I may build a diorama of the enginehouse at Gordon to have a place to display my steam power.

Another suggestion, since the reading is a vast sea of "black" with all the hoppers and Gons, and the only break in that would be the dark red boxcars, I bet lightening up the greens on the coaches would be a welcome sight. Especially if you are pulling them with FP7s or steam engines.

Considering that when I grew up in the coal region even in the 80s everything was coal dust/soot black, I don't so much mind the sea of black. I intend to model the dreary reality of that place.

Probably the number one reason the RDG went with green and yellow into the 1960s...
