This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

I thought it would be cool to post older photo's of models done "Back in the day" as Butch mentioned in another post. Back in the days of wide bodied Athearn models, DCC was in it's infancy, Steve Stewart came upon the scene with "Made by modelers for modelers" RS3, Atlas re-entered the mix with it's own version of the RS3 and Athearn started making scale width bodies. I'm posting some older photo's of a couple models I built and sold off when I did custom painting. I hope a few other "old heads" post their pics too. It would be great to see those older models good or bad!

Okay Ron, I'll pick up the gauntlet. Photos of some of my "Blue Box" models will show up here. FYI I had three (3) blue box kitbashes at the Modelers Meet in September.

OK - Here are some blue box Athearns I found, not roster shots. This GP-35 certainly shows the "wide" body look. The next photo shows an Athearn shorty RDC. Don't go by the window arrangement to decal these, and you had to love the rubber band, I mean belt drive when you brought it to a quick stop.

Bill I'm shocked that you would post pictures of RS3's. :) Nice pics Rob! I did fail to mention Dale Woodland took those photo's for me in 1986 at the North Penn Club in Lansdale. In a couple years after those photo's, the club Lost it's home after new owners bought the building and was dismantled.
