RDG GP7 609
The unit is an Atlas model the 36" dynamic brake fan was removed and replaced with the correct 48" fan from Cannon. Other detail parts were added along with the TCS wow sound and TDS super mini speaker. Paints used were SCII Pullman green and grimy black for the trucks and fuel tank. MM insignia yellow was used for the safety highlights. Unit heavily weathered with washes and pastels.

Date Line December 1974 Christmas break freshman year HS
Group project Coal Industry American Culture Class. I walked back to the New St. Nicholas breaker to take slides of how coal was transported and it was my first introduction to the MP15's ( you could still smell the paint ) The 609 was the lead unit out of West Cressona followed by 2771 and then 2772. I was invited aboard and rode in 609 as they switched the breaker when they paused for lunch the brakeman shared his with me in the cab of 2772 and then hurried me off on the blind side of 2772 when a supervisor pulled in ending my last ride on the RDG. never knew the names of these gentleman but will always be grateful for the memory.
Couple of pictures in 1/87 scale of the lash up that frigid Dec. morning
609 lead unit coming from West Cressona

followed by 2771

2772 lead unit back to West Cressona

609 according to research was retired at the end of December 1974.

Note; the only way I was able to log on the site was by typing in readingmodeler.info

Great story and great models, Chris! I was a freshman at Gettysburg College in 1973-74, watching the WM on the Dutch Line and occasional train on the Reading. I wish I had taken pictures!
