The catalog in Riggelweg's post of drawings in the packet is good news; it is the "Top 30" of Reading Steam by any measure. The eBay preview showed a drawing for what could have been Engine 1026, the 4-4-2 "Atlantic City Flyer." Drawings may therefore be in the copy headed my way. Even still, there is a source, either in a packet or individually. Reading fans are a lucky group.

The copy of Steam Locomotives of the Reading and P&R Railroads contained in a separate envelope inside the box with the book. These were printed on both sides of 15 sheets.

First impression of the book (and drawings): Wow!

It is a very thorough and complete work on the subject. (Did I already say Reading fans were a lucky group?)

I received a set of drawings today. They are nicely detailed.

There is a small correction for the list. Sheet F-34 is not a "Frisco 2-8-2 freight loco." but a Frisco 4-8-2 freight loco of the 4300 class. This is a more illustrious prototype for the "Coonskin Clan." There were only 11 4300's and each was built at SL-SF's Springfield shops from a drag-freight 2-10-2 in much the same way the K-1s 2-10-2's were built from the N-1 2-8-8-2's.

that Mr. Wiswesser has gone into a nursing home in early 2016.

I wish him the best and appreciate his making these resources available to us.

Does anyone know what became of the drawings he had?
Does anyone know if anyone will carry on with the service he offered to sell copies of them?

It certainly was a very fine resource that I hope continues not only for Reading Modelers but the modeling community in general.

I got a bulk of the drawings I needed from Riggleweg years back, but I did ask about the remainder, and was told that his health had gone south and it was unlikely to be able to get any further copies. If anyone has any means of sharing or collaborating to get them all consolidated or any way of availability to the public, I'm willing to help.

I see his son every now and then... I'll see if I can track him down sometime.

Ed did a lot of that stuff under the RSME flag, although I don't think they supported his book project the way he hoped and he may have flown more on his own after that. They might have something.... I know there are RSME members on here that might be able to shed more light.


Oddly, I believe I received my aviation merit badge from Ed.
