What's the difference between a GP40-2 and GP39-2? What year did the Reading dieselize? How many tracks were in Rutherford Yard? This board focuses on a discussion of questions or issues concerning the "prototype" Reading Company and its predecessors. While the aim of this board is to serve as a resource for prototype information for modeling purposes, general discussion and sharing of knowledge is also encouraged.

You can never have too much Reading power in a consist! B)
Either a move of power or just a line up. Taking in 1966.

Casey, the photo of Port Kennedy, in 1976 it was renamed Valley Forge Park,(probably right after the photo was taken) which it still remains today. Septa ran "Bicentennial shuttles" from Reading Terminal to here and the original Valley Forge station. that is when Septa purchased RDC's #9167-9171. the wooded area in the photo is now de-vegetated because it is a haz-mat site with buried chemicals from the chemical plant that was in the park, on the Port Kennedy branch. I remember about a year ago seeing warning signs posted all around the area. Butch Curll

Is it likely the vantage point for the photo was the PA 23 bridge? It appears from Google Earth images that bridge no longer exists.

Railpictures.net is a good source for photos; It has more photos of trains in the same setting, including many taken recently.

When was this Port Kennedy station built?

the bridge over the tracks still exists.that is where the photo was taken from. the bridge over the river has been removed, and now Penndot is spending 3 million to rebuild a bridge over the river for hiking and biking traffic only.
