Straying from the subject, back to the 4 bay offset hoppers. I am pretty sure around 1950-51 the Lackawanna received over 300 of the B&M cars.

Still straying off the subject, the AT&SF also had such cars, but the two center bays faced the ends bays rather than the middle of the car. Both the AT&SF and the MoP converted fair numbers of said cars into covered hopper cars. AT&SF for grain and later sand loading, the MoP for lime service. Does anybody have a photo of the Erie version? That car at least would be a pausable visitor to the Reading operations.

Erie did not have any Lackawanna had them. I believe there is a photo of a Lackawanna 4 bay in one of the "Train Shed Cyclopedia's" I will look it up when I get home from work today.

Erie had the 4-bay ARA 70 ton car-if you look at Pennypacker's Rdg Power Pictorial, there's a shot of one around 1955, just ahead of a caboose and pusher...here's a link to an article about the prototype..

B&O, Erie, Milw and MP were original owners, along with C&O and B&M later, second hand to NH, KOG etc. And if the Athearn one isn't good enough, Broadway Limited has a 4-pack in these roads for $149 a pop!

Mitch , I could not find the photo that you described, but on page 182 it shows one as the second car behind T-1 2103, Erie # 39492. On page 177 there is a car just ahead the caboose with 2119 as a pusher, but this car is a PRR ribbed 4 bay.

Mitch, I think this was the Erie photo you mentioned. They rostered 794 back in 1953. Secondly is the MP, which were covered hoppers, Sunshine made a mini-kit years back for this I sold mine like a dummy.
