Very thankful the FEF3 drawbar will work with slight modification. The loop end needs to be thinned a bit and the top of the truck it sits on also needs filed a bit but the length is perfect! Tested her out and she picks up current from all tender axles now. The coupler box needs removed from the tender so the drawbar will clear.

I choose the bachmann spectrum 2-8-0 pilot as the basis for the front because it is available, cheap and generally resembles the T1 front. Converted the front to accept a microtrains coupler using the 2051 underslung kit.

The top front of the frame needs filed flat so that a piece of thick styrene can fit flush on top. Two holes on each side of the front part need drilled so small screws can go through the metal. The long part of the Bachman pilot gets removed and styrene builds up on the pilot to reach the mounted screwed in portion on the frame.

New parts arrived from Baldwin in Philadelphia. Air pumps and pilot steps from bachmann 2-8-0. Still need to use some filler and file it a bit but general shape is done. Got some nice mesh for the front grill to.

So since the 3D printed tender underframe does not work with the Kato tender frame I cut off the rear steps/ coupler pocket and the front steps and fixed them to the tender shell with some clear no foam gorilla glue. Also added bosses in the center beam to send screws into to attach the Kato fram to the 3D printed shell. To makeup the space between I used some 0.08 inch angle styrene.
