check out the rr-fallenflags.org website there is a photo of #468 with the long hood as front.

You are correct, and so was Athern, in this case. There are 2 shots of 464 taken by Bob Gotschall, both show the short hood end marked as front. In the broadside shot, you can definitely see the control stand on the normal fireman's side of the cab. Can't tell if both control stands are still in. Could it be the engineer's side stand was removed and now this configuration would be correct? A unique shop rebuild? Now my question is, were any other units done this way, and are the other 2 Athern units lettered correctly? I ordered this number specifically, I never examined the other units. I had already built the other 2 numbers they did, either old MDC kits, or Stewarts.

On the railpicturearchive site there is a photo of #471 which looks like it might be short hood front , I looked at the rest if the photos on both sites, and all are long good front.
