TOPIC: G3 curiosity

G3 curiosity 9 years 4 months ago #3958

Hi everyone,
Recently I've been looking over photos of the G3's wanting to do a detail part matching to 'bash' a Mantua pacific into a G3 as far as my skills and parts availability will allow. One item on the locomotive photos that has me wondering is the box directly above the third driver on the right side. It looks to me like a cab signal box for 'E' type cab signals. I remember some lines around Philadelphia were cab signal territory. Were the G3's so equipped and is the box for cab signals or some other purpose?

The detail part you would want is this, or at least thats what I used.

The engines were set for cab signals, and not just G-3s. A lot passenger locomotives were and several freight engines. Basically anything they decided to run on lines requiring them.
