Nice pictures Robin...my last three carpet layout videos were taken with my phone.Next time I take pictures to upload I'm going to use it to see how it compares with my camera.

Nice layout, nice shots...My kids, nieces and nephews use nothing but their iPhones for photography. Mostly their pics are as good or better than what I get from my Canon Rebel.--Dave

Thanks, guys, for the kind words. The camera's a little bit too good, because it picks up the irregularities of the wall behind the layout. I had painted a simple backdrop directly on the wall years ago when I had a short-lived around the walls layout. When I dismantled that and build the 4x8 Merkiomen 2, I covered the backdrop with the Sears sky blue paint I've always used. Some of the texture of the artists' acrylics used on the backdrop showed through, but it was never too noticeable since only a 4' section abutted the wall. For a while I had a quarry-themed layout extension built on an Ikea shelf. The hillside on this covered most of the offending background. When I took that down, I found some spots of earth-colored paint, glue, and bits of ground foam adhering to the wall. I tried sanding the wall and covering it with my trusty sky blue, but, much to my horror, some rust from the can's lid bled into the paint. The color was off more than a little bit. I tried to cover the problem by spraying a flat white horizon line, but it wasn't very effective. It looks better in person than it does in pictures, but I'm living with it until I come up with a solution.

Well Robin...I didn't want to say anything about your wall...but

Honestly...if you didn't mention that I'm willing to bet that if a thousand people looked at your photo...maybe one person might notice the wall marks.Your fine scenery work hides it in plain view.
